If you deleted files that you shouldn't do and forgot to make a backup
If you went on a deleting spree without making any backups, you should be sentenced to 10 years hard labor for your extreme stupidity. Then you can go to the section on backup files on www.motomodders.net to restore them.
You will have to register (for free) in order to get the backup files, the only problem, is it doesn't contain backups for ALL phone brands, it contains the most popular brands though. likewise, you should have backed up your own files.
Deleting ringtones is slightly more involved so i'm going to deal with this first. It appears that the following ringtones are used by the phone for system purposes: Continental, Siren, Classic, Attention - Do not delete these......just to be on the safe side. Also, the .bas files are used by the motomixer, so i don't recommend deleting these either unless you don't care about motomixer. Most newer phones no longer come with motomixer so it is up to you.
If you want to keep some of the ringtones that come with the phone, but have no idea what "~AlertFile122" is. check this list and keep the ones you want.

Let's begin...
First, you need to have download P2KTools
after you've extracted it, you need to plug your phone in and install the drivers. (if you havn't done so already)
1. Set your ringstyle to Silent and go into the Menu and foreward your calls to your voicemail.
2. Once you are connected open P2kTools and it will automatically connect. Once connected, click on the "REFRESH" button.
3. A file tree should appear now. On the top menu of P2KTools, press the "ALL SILENT" button
4. expand the file tree to point to the audio folder (/a/mobile/audio/) select which ringtone files you don't want and delete them.
5. Once deleted, press the "RESTART" button... DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE!, YOU'RE NOT DONE YET.
6. Once your phone comes back on and you are connected again, hit the "REFRESH" button again.
If you encounter an error during refresh, simply unplug the phone and plug it back in and click the refresh button again
7. On the P2KTools menu bar, click on the "FIX MELODYDB" ... wait a few seconds.
8. Finally click on the "RESTART" button again and you're all done.
DELETING LOCKED WALLPAPERS, SCREENSAVERS, AND VIDEOS
METHOD 1
This is just a case of deleting the actual wallpaper/screensaver/video using p2kman.
-
you can delete all of the following picture types:
.ems
.emp
wp_XXX
wv_emoticon
Leave everything else alone, especially two files you MUST NOT DELETE and they are:
AOL_Branding_WVIM_Splashscreen.gif
WVIM_Splashscreen.gif.
Then you can move to the video folder, and simply delete the video file, there is either one or three files that come with the phone.
The original guide can be found here. I have edited the guide a LOT... (april 2006)
